In a systematic review of nine studies researchers found that diabetes self-care and glycemic control often decline in women undergoing adjuvant breast cancer treatment, driven by treatment burden, symptom overlap, and prioritization of cancer care. These disruptions were associated with worsened physical and mental health outcomes and were compounded by fragmented care and limited coordination between oncology and diabetes management.
