Severe caffeine intoxication poses significant health risks, leading to life-threatening complications such as cardiovascular and neurologic issues. A comprehensive review of 216 case reports from 1883 to 2023 highlighted that 40% of cases were linked to suicidal intent, with a median intake of 12 g and serum concentration of 160 mg/L. Intriguingly, extracorporeal blood purification significantly improved survival rates in severe cases, showing effectiveness despite patients often having higher ingestion levels. Variability in clinical presentations requires careful consideration for management strategies.
