Recent study results showed the effectiveness of a smartphone-based fecal immunochemical test (FIT) for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. The digital test offers convenience and accessibility, achieving diagnostic performance similar to traditional laboratory-based FITs. Conducted with 654 participants in southern Germany from 2021 to 2023, the study found that 55% engaged with the smartphone version. It especially appealed to men and younger individuals under 60. While the test showed slightly lower sensitivity, it received overwhelming positive feedback from users, indicating its potential role in increasing participation in CRC screening.
