A genome-wide association study has identified two genes, ENPP1 and RNF144B, associated with calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease, an arthritis that affects older adults. The study, conducted on a large cohort of U.S. veterans, revealed genetic variations linked to chondrocalcinosis, shedding light on potential therapeutic targets and adding to the understanding of the genetic basis of CPPD.
