This nationally representative cross-sectional study of US youth and young adults (ages 10–34) found that a notable minority (8.7%) have searched online for gun-related harm information, including self-harm, acquiring, concealing, or using guns against others. Such searches were more common among individuals with structural disadvantages, greater exposure to violence, and mental health distress—especially suicidal thoughts—while curiosity and privacy were प्रमुख motivations. Findings suggest that online behavior may signal elevated risk and highlight opportunities for digital and structural public health interventions to reduce gun-related harm.
