A matched cohort study in the UK revealed that adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have significantly lower life expectancy compared to those without the condition.
Males with ADHD lost approximately 6.78 years of life, while females lost about 8.64 years. ADHD was also associated with higher mortality rates, elevated rates of physical and mental health conditions, and lifestyle risk factors. The findings suggest a need for improved service pathways and awareness of health needs to reduce the risk of premature mortality in individuals with ADHD.
