A long-term study of Finnish adults revealed that both known and unknown life-course factors contribute to the development of chronic diseases across major organ systems, with midlife clinical indicators, such as body mass index, blood pressure, and fasting blood glucose, being strong predictors. Lifestyle habits and socioeconomic status also play a significant role. The findings suggest that many chronic conditions share common risk factors, and further research is needed to identify additional contributors, including genetic predispositions, environmental exposures, or social stressors.
