A population-based study revealed a substantial increase in appendiceal adenocarcinoma (AA) incidence among younger U.S. birth cohorts, particularly those born after 1980. Incidence rates were notably higher in the 1980s and 1990s compared to the 1945 cohort, with mucinous, nonmucinous, goblet cell, and signet ring cell adenocarcinomas all showing increased incidence across recent generations. The findings suggest a potential rise in AA-related disease burden, emphasizing the need for further etiologic research, awareness, and early detection strategies.
