In an article published in SELF, experts revealed that a new social media trend known as “fart walking” may help relieve bloating. Postmeal exercise can trigger gut motility to initiate digestion, break down food, accelerate gastric emptying and colon transit, and lessen bloating. Postmeal activity can also minimize gastroesophageal reflux disease and help stabilize blood sugar levels. The experts noted that even achieving 10 minutes of exercise after a meal can effectively decrease bloating. Recent studies have reported that while moderate walking can reduce bloating, high-intensity exercises such as running may be less effective. The experts concluded that any gentle movement after a meal may help aid in the process of digestion and boost physical well-being.
