The incidence rates more than doubled during that time period, with certain populations facing significantly higher risks. The study's authors emphasized a phenomenon of rising antimicrobial resistance and the urgent need for attention and surveillance to guide GAS prevention and control efforts prior to the availability of a licensed vaccine.
