A national health survey in Korea revealed that adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) had a significantly higher likelihood of having fewer than 20 teeth compared to those without CKD. This study, involving 16,125 participants aged 40 to 79 years, found that CKD patients exhibit 1.34 times greater odds of inadequate masticatory function, even after controlling for various demographic and health factors. Systemic inflammation and impaired oral health management among CKD patients may contribute to this association, highlighting the need for integrated dental care in CKD treatment.
