A study on prolonged water-only fasting revealed potential benefits such as fat burning, improved insulin sensitivity, and reduced Alzheimer's-associated proteins. However, it also raised concerns about increased inflammation, platelet activity, and liver stress, indicating potential cardiovascular risk. Findings suggested that while fasting induced short-term physiological changes, its impact on cardiometabolic health, especially in individuals with preexisting conditions, warrants further investigation.
