A comprehensive pooled analysis involving 274,433 patients with coronary artery disease from 33 randomized controlled trials indicates no significant differences in responses to intensive antithrombotic therapy between men and women. Both genders showed a similar 15% reduction in myocardial infarction risk and a 30% decrease in stent thrombosis risk when subjected to more intensive regimens. However, both groups experienced more than a 40% increased risk of major bleeding compared to less intensive treatments. Notably, the study reveals women remain underrepresented in cardiovascular research, underscoring the need for more inclusive clinical trials.
