The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) announced that Patricia Clark, MD, PhD, was honored with the 2024 Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) Medal of Achievement at this year’s World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases. Dr. Clark received the CSA Medal of Achievement because of her contributions to the advancement of osteoporosis research and understanding. Dr. Clark currently serves as Head of the Clinical Epidemiology Research Unit and is a rheumatologist and clinical epidemiologist at the Frederico Gómez Children’s Hospital of Mexico, as well as Director of the Cochrane Affiliate Center at the Faculty of Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has worked to improve the management of osteoporosis; research bone health, nutrition, and body composition; implement the widespread use of the fracture risk tool FRAX; and enhance secondary fracture prevention across Mexico and Latin America. She has also served as a member of the IOF’s Board, Scientific Committee, and CSA Working Group on Epidemiology. “I am deeply honored to have received this prestigious IOF award. It is a privilege to continue serving this extraordinary organization. IOF exemplifies the power of working together as we drive change for the benefit of [patients] with osteoporosis around the world,” concluded Dr. Clark.
