In a cross-sectional study of 100 adults with chronic subjective tinnitus seen in a tertiary otolaryngology clinic, greater tinnitus severity was independently associated with higher depressive and anxiety symptom severity. Moderate-to-severe depressive and anxiety symptoms were present in 28% and 31% of patients, respectively, and tinnitus severity remained a significant predictor of both outcomes after adjustment for age, sex, and hearing status.
