A study involving over 140,000 adults aged 37 to 73 years found that individuals with multiple physical health conditions, known as 'multimorbidity clusters,' had varying levels of depression risk. The findings revealed eight distinct clusters with combinations of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory issues, digestive conditions, and cancer, showing higher risks of depression. The study emphasized the importance of monitoring mental health in patients with multiple chronic diseases and recommended further research to explore contributing factors to depression risk in these populations.
