A nationwide survey of UK dental professionals revealed significant levels of stress and burnout, primarily due to six key factors: heavy workloads, NHS pressures, regulatory compliance fears, financial strains, management issues, and feelings of low self-worth. The study analyzed responses from 1,507 participants, highlighting increased patient demands and chronic staffing shortages. Many professionals expressed concerns about litigation and leadership inadequacies, while 61% reported high emotional exhaustion consistent with burnout. The authors emphasize that these challenges are deeply rooted in systemic issues, requiring policy-level interventions rather than solely focusing on individual resilience.
