A study led by Kristen L. Mueller at Washington University evaluated the Life Outside of Violence (LOV) program, a hospital-based intervention aimed at reducing violent reinjury among youth aged 8 to 24. Analyzing data from 3,744 eligible patients, researchers found that only 7.6% of LOV participants were reinjured within a year, nearly identical to the 7.4% rate among a matched control group. Despite high program engagement, the intervention did not significantly reduce reinjury rates, indicating a need for more comprehensive strategies to tackle community violence.
