A study of patients with first-episode schizophrenia spectrum disorders identified four distinct patterns of suicidal behavior, associated with factors such as depression, insight into illness, and duration of untreated psychosis. The analysis included 224 individuals, tracking suicidal thoughts, plans, or attempts across different phases. The study revealed varying patterns of suicidal behavior evolution, with depression and clinical insight playing crucial roles. Childhood trauma was also found to be associated with persistent suicidal behavior. Understanding these trajectories may guide targeted interventions to mitigate suicide risk in early schizophrenia.
