A study analyzing data from 148,581 Swedish patients diagnosed with ADHD revealed that early medication (within 3 months) significantly reduced rates of suicidal behaviors, substance misuse, transport accidents, and criminality over two years. Among those treated, 57% started with methylphenidate. While no significant difference in first accidental injuries was noted, recurrent events showed improvements. Findings emphasize that stimulant medications correlated with better outcomes, yet limitations such as adherence data pose questions about generalizability beyond Sweden.
