In this prospective cohort study of 34 pediatric patients with allergic rhinitis refractory to medical therapy, inferior turbinate reduction resulted in significantly greater improvements in sinonasal symptoms, nasal obstruction, and sleep-related quality of life compared with continued pharmacologic treatment, with benefits evident at 1 and 3 months. Surgical intervention was also associated with markedly higher rates of endoscopic disease regression (88.2% vs 29.4%) and no reported perioperative or postoperative complications, supporting its role in selected pediatric patients with persistent disease.
