A U.S. cohort study involving 518 infants found that those whose mothers received a COVID-19 booster during pregnancy had significantly higher antibody levels compared to infants whose mothers received only two doses or were vaccinated postpartum. Conducted between July 2021 and January 2022 at nine academic centers, the research measured binding and neutralizing antibodies through 6 months of age. Results indicated increased transplacental antibody transfer and persistence in infants of mothers with booster vaccinations, highlighting the benefits of vaccination during pregnancy.
