High school athletes with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) take longer to recover from sports-related concussions compared to those without the condition. A study tracked nearly 1,000 cases over 8 years, revealing that athletes with ADHD required more time to return to learning and sport. Female athletes and younger individuals also experienced prolonged recovery times. The findings emphasize the importance of recognizing ADHD, sex, and age as relevant factors in managing concussion recovery.
