In a cross-sectional survey of 523 North American parathyroid surgeons, most respondents (88.3%) reported routine use of intraoperative parathyroid hormone (IOPTH) monitoring—particularly in primary hyperparathyroidism—reflecting strong adherence to guideline-recommended minimally invasive approaches. However, substantial heterogeneity persists in imaging strategies, intraoperative adjunct use, and intraoperative parathyroid hormone criteria application, especially in secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism, where guideline clarity is limited.
