A study published in BMJ Open examined the link between psychological factors and visual symptoms in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Conducted with 87 participants, the research revealed that those with TBI exhibited greater light sensitivity and worse cognitive and psychological measures compared to controls. Increased sensitivity correlated with higher levels of depression and pain catastrophizing, which also influenced the efficacy of tinted lenses (FL-41 and grey). These findings underscore the significance of neuropsychological aspects in the treatment of visual symptoms among TBI patients.
