Researchers from the International Consortium for Freezing of Gait developed updated clinical and technical definitions of freezing of gait in Parkinson disease to standardize identification, classification, and measurement of this episodic gait impairment in clinical care and research. The consensus framework clarifies criteria for episode onset and termination, introduces standardized subtypes and scoring methods for video-based assessment, and proposes a structured approach for classifying patients with or without freezing of gait to improve diagnostic consistency and outcome measurement in clinical trials and practice.
