In a retrospective cohort of 521,244 adults with acute sinusitis, amoxicillin-clavulanate did not reduce treatment failure vs amoxicillin (3.0% vs 3.1%). It was associated with higher rates of yeast and Clostridioides difficile infections, supporting amoxicillin as preferred first-line therapy for uncomplicated cases.
