A recent cohort analysis of 2,891 women from the Nurses’ Health Study II revealed that women with a history of gestational diabetes who experience shorter sleep duration and frequent snoring face a significantly increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The study found that women who snored occasionally or regularly, as well as those with shorter sleep duration, had a significantly higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The highest risk was observed in women who both snored regularly and had short sleep. Sleep health improvement may be important to reduce type 2 diabetes incidence in this high-risk population, according to the researchers.
