Researchers retrospectively analyzed 52 cardiac magnetic resonance imaging studies in pediatric and adult patients with repaired d-transposition of the great arteries following arterial switch operation and found that left ventricular function was preserved in most patients. Median left ventricular ejection fraction was 60%, although 17% of patients had reduced systolic function and 9.6% demonstrated late gadolinium enhancement suggestive of myocardial scar. Adult 2D and 3D strain values were within published normal ranges, and most patients had no or mild neoaortic regurgitation.
