A review of 7,141 cosmetic procedures in 2,324 international patients found a 6% complication rate per patient and 2% per procedure, mostly minor and local. Systemic complications occurred in less than 1% and resolved without long-term effects. Conducted at an accredited center in Cartagena, Colombia, the study attributed favorable results to strict safety protocols and a center-of-excellence model. Complication rates for abdominoplasty and liposuction were lower than U.S. benchmarks, while breast surgery rates were comparable.
