Biomarkers May Help Quest for a Link Between Apnea and Alzheimer's
Links between obstructive sleep apnea and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have long been thought to exist, but the long time horizon for Alzheimer's has been a barrier to investigation. Mount Sinai has now launched a study to assess whether patients who are successfully treated for obstructive sleep apnea demonstrate a slower decline in cognitive function and lower levels of plasma AD biomarkers compared to those who are untreated.
