A nationwide cohort study in Sweden found that women with adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) faced increased long-term cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks, and their APO-free sisters also demonstrated heightened risks of major adverse cardiac events, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and cerebrovascular events. The findings suggest a genetic and/or environmental influence on the association between APOs and CVDs, with APO history potentially serving as a marker for future CVD risk in affected women and their siblings.
