SAHaRA trial investigators compared liberal and restrictive red-cell transfusion strategies in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and anemia. They found no significant difference in neurologic outcomes at 12 months between the two strategies. There were also no significant differences between adverse events and quality of life, contributing to the ongoing discussion on optimal transfusion practices in critically ill patients with SAH.
