A new prospective study explored the differentiation between Menière’s disease (MD) and vestibular migraine (VM), both of which exhibit overlapping symptoms such as vertigo and tinnitus. Utilizing hydrops magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with cochlear and vestibular biomarkers, researchers analyzed 31 patients (15 MD, 16 VM). Results indicated a 100% diagnostic accuracy when assessing cochlear endolymphatic hydrops and vestibular endolymphatic hydrops collectively, providing a non-invasive tool for improved diagnosis and timely treatment in neurotology. Larger studies are recommended for broader validation.
