In a multicenter registry study involving 145 patients with drug-resistant mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) demonstrated significant efficacy in achieving seizure control, with 58.4% of subjects free from seizures two years post-treatment. The study, led by Dr. Patrick Landazuri, highlighted minimal invasiveness, reduced hospital stays, and low postoperative pain. Quality of life notably improved, with nearly all domains benefiting, particularly in seizure worry and social functioning. The findings affirm LITT as a promising alternative to traditional surgery, combining effective seizure outcomes with quicker recovery.
