A recent study involving over 24,000 patients has identified four key diagnostic trajectories that increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease (AD). Researchers analyzed a decade of data and discovered that specific sequences of diagnoses related to mental health, encephalopathy, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and vascular disease can more accurately predict AD than isolated conditions alone. Validated by a large cohort in the All of Us Research Program, these findings suggest that understanding the order of diagnoses can enable earlier detection and tailored interventions for Alzheimer's risk.
