A new randomized controlled trial is underway to compare two approaches to pharmacomechanical thrombectomy in patients with extensive lower-limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Investigators aim to assess whether targeting clots in the distal popliteal vein through modified access improves vein patency and reduces the risk of post-thrombotic syndrome. The trial involves 160 patients and is evaluating outcomes over 24 months. The findings are expected to provide insights into improving thrombectomy for extensive DVT and inform future treatment strategies.
