A study from Singapore found that adults hospitalized with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) had significantly higher odds of acute cardiovascular events compared to those hospitalized for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. 1 in 10 RSV patients experienced cardiac complications, with dysrhythmias and heart failure being particularly elevated. The study also highlighted the increased disease severity across all respiratory viral infections and the importance of RSV vaccination for older adults with preexisting cardiac history.
