A recent study found that exposure to di-2-ethylhexylphthalate (DEHP) from plastics contributed to a substantial number of cardiovascular deaths globally in 2018 among adults aged 55 to 64. The investigators estimated that 356,238 cardiovascular disease deaths in this age group were attributable to DEHP, with the majority specifically linked to plastics. The findings underscored significant geographic disparities and emphasized the need for global regulatory measures to reduce phthalate exposure.
