A randomized controlled trial, BHF PROTECT-TAVI, with 7635 aortic stenosis patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) did not demonstrate a reduction in stroke rate within 72 hours post-procedure with the routine use of cerebral embolic protection (CEP) device. The researchers concluded that the CEP did not decrease the incidence of stroke within 72 hours based on the study outcomes and compliance-adjusted causal effect modeling.
