The American College of Cardiology (ACC) announced that Himabindu Vidula, MD, MS, FACC, has been appointed the Chair of the ACC’s Board of Governors and Secretary of the Board of Trustees; her term will run from 2024 to 2025. Dr. Vidula currently serves as Associate Professor of Medicine, Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support, and an advanced heart failure cardiologist at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as Medical Lead for Mechanical Circulatory Support across Penn Medicine. In her new role, she expects to bolster ACC membership and community engagement; improve the integration of clinicians from different practice models, fellows-in-training, and cardiovascular care team members into the ACC’s state chapters; and advance the understanding of barriers to health equity. “I am looking forward to spending this next year collaborating with [the ACC Board of Governors] and learning from their unique experiences to strengthen how the ACC serves our members and the broader cardiovascular care community,” concluded Dr. Vidula.
