A Swedish nationwide trial involving 18,466 patients with type 1 myocardial infarction revealed that routine screening for Helicobacter pylori during hospitalization did not significantly reduce the incidence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The study, conducted from November 2021 to January 2024, showed 299 bleeding events during screening and 336 during non-screening phases, indicating a similar risk. Additionally, secondary outcomes for cardiovascular events and mortality remained unchanged. Subgroup analyses indicated fewer bleeding occurrences in specific patient groups, though these findings were exploratory and potentially limited by study design and adherence factors.
