In this nationwide cohort study of 203,471 adults in South Korea from 2013 to 2023, researchers found that the incidence of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest was 9% higher on the first weekday following holidays compared with other weekdays, with the effect most pronounced after two or more consecutive rest days. The increased risk was particularly observed in adults older than 65 years, arrests of cardiac origin, and cases presenting with nonshockable rhythms, suggesting the postholiday transition may represent a period of heightened cardiovascular vulnerability.
