A recent retrospective cohort study of 156 patients undergoing mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) revealed that those with atrial fibrillation (AF) face more than double the risk of death or heart failure hospitalization over two years compared to those in sinus rhythm. Conducted at a single center from January 2021 to August 2023, the study found that AF was significantly associated with worsened outcomes regarding heart remodeling and higher rates of recurrent severe mitral regurgitation. The findings underscore the need for monitoring arrhythmias during M-TEER procedures.
