A study comparing corticosteroid knee injections, hyaluronic acid injections, and no injections in osteoarthritis patients found that corticosteroid injections are associated with greater structural damage, while hyaluronic acid injections may slow joint progression and reduce cartilage damage. Both injection types provided pain relief, but corticosteroid injections led to more joint degeneration over 2 years. The study highlights the need for further investigation and offers imaging evidence to inform clinical decision-making.
