In a porcine pilot study, researchers evaluated a novel interstitial digital subtraction lymphangiography technique using intradermal injection of iodinated contrast, achieving 97% technical success with rapid visualization of superficial inguinal lymph nodes (mean, approximately 75 seconds) and good or fair image quality in 90% of cases without major adverse events. The findings suggest this approach may offer a fast, high-resolution, and accessible method for peripheral lymphatic imaging, with potential applications in diagnosing and planning treatment for conditions such as lymphedema, pending validation in human studies.
