A recent study led by Kanran Wang at the Chongqing Cancer Hospital revealed a significant correlation between ultra-processed food (UPF) intake and an increased risk of lung cancer. Analyzing data from over 101,000 participants, the research highlighted that those consuming the highest amounts of UPF faced a 41% greater risk of developing lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The study accounted for various confounding factors, underscoring the need for dietary awareness in cancer prevention strategies.
