A U.S. analysis of 3,729 women in NHANES 2009–2018 found that higher body mass index, body roundness index, and white blood cell counts were each linked with increased odds of self-reported asthma. Threshold effects were observed above BMI 25.3 kg/m², BRI 3.84, and WBC 4.8 × 10⁹/L. Mediation analysis showed that white blood cells explained a small portion of the obesity–asthma association. Researchers noted the cross-sectional design, self-reported asthma diagnosis, and population limits as study constraints.
