In a large TriNetX cohort of 1.3 million matched adults, those with both asthma and obstructive sleep apnea had a 62% higher risk of intubation and significantly higher rates of asthma exacerbations, acute coronary syndromes, and atrial fibrillation compared with patients with asthma alone. Obstructive sleep apnea was also linked to greater bronchodilator and corticosteroid use, indicating higher disease burden.
