A recent study led by Nadiia Yakovenko from CNRS/IRD/Université de Toulouse found that adults inhale approximately 68,000 microplastic particles daily from indoor air. This figure is nearly 100 times higher than previously reported. Researchers analyzed air samples from various indoor environments, revealing that concentrations of airborne microplastics are significantly greater in car cabins than in homes. The study highlights the potential health risks associated with inhaling fine particulate microplastics, emphasizing the need for further research into their impact on human health.
